What is a Life Coach?

A life coach can help you see clearly where your life is right now, create a vision for where you want your life to go, and make a plan to get you to your destination. When your coach has a good understanding of what you want, they will help you, guide you, and facilitate the process of achieving your goals and dreams. They will collaborate with you and provide the support you need.

Why a Life Coach for Young Adults Makes Sense

Today’s young adults face an overwhelming number of major life decisions and transitions. Navigating a classroom, pursuing a healthy social life, and setting life goals can be a lot to manage within the span of just a few years. Doing it alone can lead to stress and the feeling of being stuck or lost.

Life coaches help young adults and college students deal with the pressures of independence, develop healthy coping mechanisms for stress, anxiety, and depression, and promote overall well-being by offering a safe space for young adults to discuss their concerns and learn effective self-care strategies.

Life coaches support young adults' personal development and self-discovery by engaging them in reflective exercises and skill-building activities that enhance self-awareness and confidence. They help them identify their values, strengths, and areas for improvement

4 Key Reasons for Young Adults to Use a Coach:

  1. Planning and goal creation

  2. Navigating classroom and academics

  3. Managing social and emotional challenges

  4. Accountability for personal growth and self-success.

My name is Dr. Brian Harke

I have been working in the areas of leadership and counseling in both the corporate sector as well as higher education for the past 30 years.

As an Assistant Dean at the University of San Francisco Business School, I helped guide young adults on paths of success, both in and outside the classroom. I honed my skills when working with hundreds of students while a Dean of Students at the University of Southern California. I was also editor-at-large for the Education section of the Huffington Post.

My academic journey has been focused on developing my leadership and counseling skills. I hold a BA in Communication from Washington University in St. Louis, a Master of Art in Counseling College Students from St. Mary’s College, and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from the prestigious University of San Francisco (USF). These credentials are a testament to my commitment to continuous learning and my dedication to my field.

My research at USF, which focused on the transition of college-age students and the social, emotional, and academic challenges they face, has been instrumental in shaping my approach as a Whole-Person Life Coach for young adults and students. This, coupled with my 30 years of corporate and academic leadership, has equipped me with a wealth of insights into college student success.

I look forward to speaking with you about your needs and how we can develop a road map for guidance to set new goals to help you succeed in life and school.

Dr. Brian Harke

When I was approaching the end of my high school career, I let my fear and negative thinking take control. Dr. Harke helped me focus on what I truly wanted in life, not what I thought I "should" do. We focused on goals I could look forward to as my freshman year in college approached. With Dr. Harke’s help, I reset my expectations about college life. As I come to the end of my freshman year, I realize how much working with Dr. Harke really did for me. I didn’t feel lost or overwhelmed with college life. I even pulled off a 4.0 GPA. I highly recommend Dr. Harke as a life coach for students.

Dr. Harke is an intuitive listener and a wonderful supporter who helped me find the answers to my problems from within, encouraging me to live life from my intuition and heart. During my coaching, I experienced my first college rejection letter, but I was able to turn it into a learning opportunity and was admitted to another college that I love. Dr. Harke helped prepare me for the social aspects of college life. Going to a big college felt overwhelming, but we put together a plan to address my fears and found a way to make college what I wanted: a place to feel at home. Dr. Harke is great.
You need to work with him.
